This program is directed to logistics professionals who aim to expand their knowledge in the field and advance their organization’s logistics function. The program covers all the fundamental concepts of logistics management, such as logistics strategies, distribution network design, distribution requirements planning, risk management, and the use of logistics service providers. Furthermore, the various elements of transportation management are discussed, including planning and decision-making models, as well as vehicle selection and utilization. Measurement and continuous improvement are emphasized as ways to meet and exceed the pressures of globalization and steadily increasing customer expectations. Reverse logistics and sustainability are also discussed.
Throughout every topic, the relevant best practices and newest models are emphasized through case studies, storytelling, and/or videos. Furthermore, each participant will get the opportunity to present his/her work activities, stimulating an instructor-led discussion about the best-in-class practices of similar functions. Understand the fundamental aspects of distribution network planning (network optimization, distribution center site decisions, etc.) Be able to identify the major influences on the design of distribution channels. Understand the rationale for multilevel networks and the purpose of the bill of distribution (BOD). Be able to calculate a distribution requirement plan from warehouse gross requirements. Understand the decision tradeoffs between warehousing and transportation. Understand how to monitor the freight forwarder performance. Understand the D2D logistics strategy and how to build SOW and KPIs for the contract. Be aware of recent logistics IT trends, such as the “Internet of Things” and big data analysis. Understand the importance of safety in logistics operations and the implications of poor safety to personnel, material, equipment, as well as the organization. Have a clear view of some of the integral lean and continuous improvement philosophies and how they can create improvements. Know how to design KPIs, set targets, and analyze performance.
